(it is the beginning of a story/description i wrote.. I would like to continue it sometime..)

Seed

It only takes a seed to produce a disaster.. a wrong plantation of a tree can lead to difficulties in building structures. Gossip can lead to big misunderstandings. Even love can be “planted”. The weak souls can fall victims of love only from the blink of an eye, while others require great sacrifices as proof of love. But the only seed planted in us from birth, the seed of reason, is not always nurtured enough and it dies.. with catastrophic consequences.

For millennia the people of Minom have been trying to find ways of developing their reason. Having a very secure political structure, the people can worry mostly on how to think faster, more effectively and logically. Seminars are being held all over the country of Land (as their reason couldn’t find a use for symbolism, thus reducing the names at very simple and purely defining dimensions) in order to give everyone a chance of improvement. Everyone was allowed to participate in the lecturing.. there was no diploma needed, as the minomists, with their reason, found that those pieces of paper or plastic had no meaning in their society. Everyone could be a potential genius and they found that by learning only what you like, when you like it, can create better people with excellent skills in their field of interest. For instance a writer of Minom only reads other works and studies them.. History, geography, mathematics, etc.. won’t help his writing.. then he will only write what he will like! In Minom you can’t find any critics at all! Criticizing one another only makes things worse and limits people’s minds. Thus nobody is criticizing anybody. But they are all their own critics, thanks to reason. All the writers are successful, because Minom has the best writers due to their specific formation! It goes the same for all the rest of the study areas.. there are no pre-set study periods. Each student learns by himself because, studying only what he likes, the difficulties are minimal, and he can choose when to study, improving the learning process.
Concerning work, minomists have no set hours of work.. because they all like what they are doing so they choose their own work periods.

Now, one of the most important details of the life in Minom is the salary. Because everyone is doing what he likes nobody wants to get paid. Instead the bullet-proof financial structure (which actually doesn’t exist) allows Land’s citizens to take whatever they think they need without paying for it. By taking only what they need , in a way, they participate in the development of the society. For example they never waste. Moreover, if by taking what they need improves productivity, more people will have access to whatever the producer makes, but never passing over the waste limit. This mentality eliminates crime, as well!
There is only one level of quality in Minom’s products: the best. Minomist make everything with love, this leading to an outstanding quality of products. Everyone is happy when they work, thus everyone taking the products receives the same feeling.

If we were to compare this society with ours one could think that minomists have no culture. And one could be right. Minom has always promoted the reasoned way of life. There are no myths. They know gods don’t exist so they have no religion. They never had international conflicts because the soldiers of Minom are the best so no other country wants to deal with them. The writers in Minom only express themselves, or they try to express their feelings in words. There are no histories or conflicts in their writing. There is no use for them. Thus the literature in Minom is very original, but they don’t praise any writer and they never make any statues of anyone. Art in Minom is very minimalistic and outstandingly perfect! In this way we could say that Minom has a culture. Art in Minom is everywhere. Everyone loves it because the artists are excellent and they manage to invent a new way of expression with every work. But minomists never implement those ways in their lives as they want to keep everything as simple as possible. Nevertheless, they keep every work of art in one place.
Minom’s history, as I said, was a quiet one. No conflicts, but an incredible amount of discoveries and inventions! They were the first people to discover the Higgs’s Bosson, a particle which, they say, gives mass to matter. Many participate in scientific discoveries. There isn’t one person who discovers something. Instead they work in groups.. each group has a different field of research.. they all interact because many fields can intersect and produce new ideas.

So much for science (although an entire book can be written about their scientific discoveries). Another interesting fact is their universal beverage. They only drink beer. Even more interesting is how they found it! Before that I must mention how ignorant minomists are.. they are interested in only the things they enjoy.. for instance, a group of students majoring in psychology, once went out for a study project, trying to understand male and female behaviour when not sober. But in order to do that, they had to leave their country, as, in Land, you can’t find drunk people who aren’t able to maintain their logic during speech because people who drink not only that they invent new drinks, but they also become immune to alcohol. So they took the train to Germania, a land where some people have more alcohol then blood in their veins. They took a seat in a local pub. So, in order to blend in, they each ordered a different drink (oh, they were accompanied by a polyglot who was just used for making themselves understood) , just for the sake of diversity. They all drank and shared opinions and found out that the one who ordered beer was feeling the best! Then he started to jump on tables and sing repetitive loops of minimal songs. After this episode they started and finished their study (their paper can be found in their local library). Furthermore they also studied the effect of the drink called “bier” (which they translated to beer) on the student.. after a public lecture demanded by the people, after reading a column in the local newspaper after the event , everyone wanted to drink the substance. Thus they made it the national drink. Now they mostly drink beer. Nobody wants to try anything else anymore. They’re too lazy to change how things are right now. The first thing they found good they declared it was their favourite.

Anyway, when they are under the influence of the “Thing”, they lose themselves. A long time ago, two explorers visited Russ, a land where everyone is trying to concoct the best drink. They once stopped for a drink in a bar and they both forgot what they were trying to find, after drinking one of the best drinks in Russ, The Bullying Frog! It remained a very popular drink in Minom, drank only at parties.

Minomists don’t take responsibility for their mistakes. Due to their scientific formation they know it all happens for a reason pre-set in time. That’s why minomists rarely feel sorrow when someone accidentally dies or whenever an accident takes place. Their preparation makes them, from a certain point of view, perfect, so they don’t believe in accidents. Every incident is understood as the action of the universe, an action they can’t control. Furthermore they know that they can’t change what happened, so there’s no use in getting upset. There’s no use in wasting energy for an event which can’t be rewound.
They are all positive when it comes for evolution. Because time is evolution’s only limit in their land and they don’t see the point in looking back.

Here’s another curiosity in minomist thinking. They don’t care how they get the job done as long as it is done.. (here is where minomist quality plays an important part because as long as everything is of the top then whatever job they have to do will still be made in at an evenly high level of quality and professionalism) for instance let’s say someone wants to get a haircut.. (by the way, fashion is forbidden in Land resulting from a public vote due to the fact that they can’t find anything educational in it and to the fact that clothing and style diversity in general is of no public interest.. furthermore it is an improper use of fabric, time and mind power) one has a choice: either go to a barbershop/salon/etc. or do it yourself.. the only advantage in the latter is that you get to choose how long you want your hair to be cut (Minom barbers are always excited when they see hair, so they always try to give perfect haircuts taking advantage of any millimetre available) time is also a factor because it takes longer for a barber to cut your hair than it takes a minomist to do it at home with a machine.. in the end they don’t care how their hair looks as long as it is kept at the desired length.
Another example would be multitasking.. let’s say a minomist wants to work out while mowing the lawn. (Lawn mowing isn’t a very important activity in Land, people don’t care if someone’s lawn is mown or not.. the outside of someone’s personality has the least importance in Land’s society, thus daily chores are only interesting if made with passion and love) minomists build a machine which allows them to work out during mowing the lawn, of course, insisting on the work-out. Each machine is different from minomist to minomist because they might have different training programs.. anyway, they mown the lawn.
Of course lawn mowing can be left to the ones passionate about this. Some people have very strange lawn designs left over from lawn mowing enthusiasts’ experiments.

One’s passion can’t be felt by another, thus they don’t really express their feelings about anything. They keep all their reactions to themselves (and/or to very very close friends, like to friends who have seen them naked but didn’t express any sexual attraction) and they seem like the people from Hemoni (a neighbouring region of Minom) called emos, but in fact minomists are the most sensitive and sensible humans on Earth 2.0 and what’s even better is that they don’t remember things that make them sad, so they are mostly positive and optimistic; this works in contrast with the fact that they easily forget important things that don’t concern them (but which are important to others).
